Descriptions

Navkar Metal Syndicate supplies premium-grade Zirconium Copper (C15000 / CuCrZr / CW106C), a high-performance copper alloy engineered for applications demanding exceptional electrical and thermal conductivity combined with superior strength and wear resistance. Known for its ability to retain mechanical properties at elevated temperatures, CuCrZr is one of the most versatile alloys for high-current, high-stress environments.

The addition of small amounts of chromium (Cr) and zirconium (Zr) to pure copper enables controlled precipitation hardening, resulting in a material that achieves up to 80–90% IACS conductivity while maintaining excellent hardness, creep resistance, and fatigue strength. These characteristics make Zirconium Copper ideal for spot welding electrodes, electrical connectors, switchgear parts, heat sinks, and mold components.

Every batch from Navkar Metal Syndicate undergoes precise metallurgical control and is supplied with Mill Test Certificates (MTCs) conforming to ASTM B441 / B747 / EN CW106C standards. Available in rods, bars, plates, and custom-machined components, our CuCrZr products are designed to deliver outstanding durability, low maintenance, and consistent performance in demanding industrial and electrical applications.

Chemical Composition

Zirconium Copper (CuCrZr) is a precipitation-hardened copper alloy containing small additions of chromium (Cr) and zirconium (Zr). These elements enhance its mechanical strength, softening resistance, and wear performance while retaining high electrical and thermal conductivity.

Element Composition (% by Weight) Typical Alloy Grades
Copper (Cu) Balance (typically ≥ 99.0%) UNS C15000
CuCrZr
EN CW106C
ASTM B441 / B747
Chromium (Cr) 0.4 – 1.2
Zirconium (Zr) 0.05 – 0.20
Other Elements (Total) ≤ 0.10
Impurities (Each) ≤ 0.05

The carefully controlled balance of chromium and zirconium in C15000 improves precipitation hardening, allowing for excellent strength, hardness, and conductivity stability during prolonged exposure to elevated temperatures.

Heat-treated CuCrZr maintains excellent hardness and conductivity stability even after prolonged thermal cycling, making it a preferred alloy for demanding electrical and tooling applications.

Applications

Zirconium Copper (CuCrZr / C15000) is selected for applications that demand a unique combination of high electrical and thermal conductivity, mechanical strength, and resistance to softening under heat or electrical loading. It performs exceptionally well in high-temperature, high-current, or wear-intensive environments.

  • Resistance welding electrodes, seam welding wheels, and caps
  • Switchgear, circuit breaker, and contact components
  • Heat sinks, thermal plates, and electrical bus bars
  • Mold cores, liners, and inserts for plastic injection or casting dies
  • Electrode holders and welding fixtures in automated manufacturing
  • High-current connectors, transformer parts, and commutator segments
  • Vacuum and aerospace components requiring conductivity with strength
  • Induction coil parts and furnace components exposed to cyclic heating

With its excellent balance of strength, conductivity, and oxidation resistance, CuCrZr is the alloy of choice for manufacturers across electrical, automotive, aerospace, and tooling industries. Its durability and low maintenance requirements ensure extended component life in both industrial and high-performance applications.
